Note All containers must be unlabeled and neutral in colour. No branded dairy packaging. Milk Club props (apron, mixing bowl, whisk, etc.) will be provided by the client for applicable crafts.

What You'll Need

  • 1 clean, dry milk carton
  • Scissors or craft knife
  • A pencil or marker
  • 1 wooden stick or disposable wooden utensil (perch)
  • String or twine
  • Non-toxic paint
  • Paintbrush

Steps

  1. Rinse and dry the carton completely.
  2. Draw a circular hole on the front, approximately 4 cm (roughly the size of a toonie) in diameter.
  3. Cut out the hole carefully.
  4. Poke a hole below the entrance hole and insert the wooden stick or disposable utensil as the perch.
  5. Poke holes at the top and thread string for hanging.
  6. Paint the exterior and let dry completely.
  7. Hang outside.

Take It Further

  • Decorate the carton with glue and tissue paper or popsicle sticks before cutting the entrance hole.
  • Use a disposable wooden utensil (chopstick or skewer) as the perch for an eco-friendly option.
  • Turn it into a bird feeder by cutting large squares in the top half on all four sides instead of a round entrance hole.
